Chimney Crown Repair by Jack & Sons Chimney Care in Colorado

The crown is the concrete or masonry slab at the very top of the chimney. It's the first line of defense against rain and snow, and it takes the most weather of any part. When it cracks, water pours straight into the structure. We rebuild and seal crowns so the chimney sheds water the way it should.

Signs you need chimney crown repair

  • The crown has visible cracks or crumbling edges
  • Water is getting into the chimney from the top
  • Chunks of the crown have broken away
  • There's no overhang to direct water off the brick
  • Interior staining suggests top-down leakage

The benefits

  • Stops water intrusion at the source
  • Protects the flue liner and masonry below
  • Prevents costly interior and structural damage
  • Adds a proper drip edge and slope
  • Long-lasting, weather-tight finish

Serving Colorado's Front Range 24/7. From Denver to Fort Collins to Colorado Springs and every town between, Jack & Sons Chimney Care is ready to help. Call 720-943-7149 for honest pricing and a free estimate.

Our process

Assess the crown

We check the crown, cap and top courses for cracks and water paths.

Remove or prep

Failed material is removed and the surface is prepped for a durable bond.

Rebuild the crown

A new sloped, overhanging crown is formed to shed water away from the brick.

Seal the surface

A flexible waterproof coating adds years of protection.

Commercial & residential

We handle chimney crown repair for both homeowners and commercial properties — single-family homes, apartments, HOAs and businesses across the Front Range. Whatever the setting, you get the same careful, code-compliant work and honest pricing.

Chimney Crown Repair FAQs

Can a cracked crown be sealed instead of rebuilt?
Minor cracks can often be sealed with a flexible coating. Badly deteriorated crowns need rebuilding to do the job.
How is the crown different from the cap?
The crown is the masonry slab that covers the top of the chimney; the cap is the metal cover over the flue opening. Many chimneys need both addressed.
