Damper Installation by Jack & Sons Chimney Care in Colorado

A well-installed damper is the difference between a fireplace that saves energy and one that leaks it. Whether you're adding a damper for the first time or upgrading to a tighter top-sealing model, we fit it precisely so it opens easily and closes tight.

Signs you need damper installation

  • There's no damper or it's missing entirely
  • You want a tighter seal than the old throat damper gives
  • Constant drafts through the fireplace
  • You're upgrading for energy efficiency
  • The flue stays open to the weather

The benefits

  • Tight sealing to stop energy loss
  • Easy, reliable open and close
  • Top-sealing models cap the flue too
  • Year-round comfort near the hearth
  • Precise fit and tested operation

Damper Installation FAQs

Throat damper or top-sealing — what's the difference?
A throat damper sits just above the firebox; a top-sealing damper mounts at the top of the flue and seals much tighter, doubling as a cap.
Will a damper really save energy?
Yes. An open, damper-less flue leaks conditioned air continuously. A good damper closes that gap.
